Boise Pride’s “Season Kickoff” event, billed as the city’s “biggest Pride party of the year,” has been officially cancelled due to lackluster ticket sales and insufficient interest from the public.
The event, originally set for June 6 at the Knitting Factory, was marketed with considerable enthusiasm. Promoters promised an energetic celebration with performances by Cody Belew, Ariana & The Rose, and Corvette Collective. Tickets were affordably priced—$25 for general admission and $60 for VIP—but the enthusiasm stopped at online engagement. When it came to real-world turnout, the numbers just weren’t there.
Organizers said the initiative was created in response to community demand, aiming to expand the spirit of Pride beyond a single weekend. However, despite “strong online support,” they admitted ticket sales didn’t meet the minimum threshold for responsibly executing the event. All tickets were fully refunded, and the announcement emphasized a message of accountability: “It takes more than excitement. It takes showing up.”
